While at a Wormfarm Residency in Wisconsin, Madigan was drawn to the 'weirdo' carrots pulled out of the organic vegetable garden. Too strange for the market sale or the CSA produce boxes, these carrots would go to what was called the "artist bin" for the resident artists to eat or prepare. Madigan started taking the most deformed carrots, carving them into monsters and then photographing them against the sky of the farm. The original series of 18 images is called "Ahh! Real Carrots!" 

The carved carrots were preserved and shown at the Woolen Mill Gallery as part of the “Barn Scramble” show, an exhibition of the work of the resident artists during their time at Wormfarm Institute in 2021.
